GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
Diplomatic Department.
His Excellency The Chief Superintendent of Trade has received a Communication from H. E. The Captain- General of the Phillippine Islands, in which he states that great improvements have been introduced in the Manufacture and Packing of Leaf Tobacco, and he requests SIR JOHN BOWRING to make known to the Commercial Community in China, that any suggestions conveyed to the Manila Government by which the Trade is likely to be promoted (provided such suggestions are compatible with local regulations) will be welcome.
